The Next Chapter...

well...after 5 wonderful weeks here at Blue Bird Apartments it is once again time to pack up, and to move on...to the (hopefully) equally lovely Ocean Villas, about 5km down the road from here.

Allow me for a moment to sing some praises for this place we learnt to appreciate so much. Petra is running a beautifully tight teutonic ship here, everything is spotlessly clean, well organized, thought-through, in working order - but still with plenty of charme, and with a smile on everyone's face! And of course in the most beautiful Mauritian surroundings!

Still - too many typical German guests here for my like, of the type I have been trying to get away from for almost a decade now...but that's certainly not Petras' or BlueBird Apartments' fault. Those bloody Germans... ;-)

Just a wonderful, non-expensive place, I can only warmly recommend. And I would like to thank Petra and her family for saving us and for giving us shelter when we didn't know where to spend the next fortnight, or even the next night... !

That said, I have already moved our growing pile of luggage over to our new place, and the first impression was a very pleasant one - but more about that later, with photos etc.

The last week was rather uneventful, filled with studying, nursing my poor darling Silvia, still fighting with her flu and bronchities, and meeting new people, as always :-)

Our friend Liza has been staying with us for about 10 days, and I think we mutually enjoyed each others' company - the very polite, helpful and pleasant and always hungry companian that she is!

We were invited to have dinner at Leo and Birgit's house, two German expats who live about 10 mins down the road, together with her adorable 6 months-old baby Lucie and about 8 dogs! Birgit is a vet, and apparently she would love to adopt all the numerous stray dogs one can find lingering on Mauritian streets. Very nice couple, and we spend a beautiful evening there, with lots of laughter and good conversations.

The next day we returned the invitation, after babysitting little Lucie, whilst her parents went diving. As always (I'd like to think...) Lucie and I hit it off big style, and are now truly bestest friends. After diving Leo and Birgit came over to our house, and we organized a proper Braai/BBQ, together with Liza and Andre, another Divemaster scholar.

I hope we will see more of these guys before we depart!

Next week my little sister Antonia will be arriving, spending the last 12 days on this island together with us! How very exciting! Antonia has now also finally given in to submitting herself to an Open Water course...she will be a diver too!

Well, that's about all what's going on at the moment. I hope Silvia is feeling better soon, and I hope that she will like our new accommodation, and I hope that I will have studied enough by the end of this week to do the first set of exams soon...already mildly starting to be scared.

Lots of love from Paradise to those in cold and wet Europe, sending you warm thoughts and lots of sunny rays from here xxx
